Master Tier Champion Guide
Darius is a lane dominant, AD juggernaut who excels at extended fights. You should play Darius if you want a champion who can snowball a lead and become an unstoppable force in team fights. His kit is designed around applying stacks of his passive, Hemorrhage, to enemies, which deals damage over time and grants him bonus attack damage. Mastering Darius requires an understanding of his passive and the ability to manage his stacks to maximize his damage output.
Lane Dominance: Darius is one of the strongest laners in the game, capable of bullying most melee champions.
High Damage Output: His passive, Hemorrhage, allows him to deal massive damage over time, especially when fully stacked.
Reset Mechanic: His ultimate, Noxian Guillotine, can be reset on kills, allowing him to chain together multiple kills in a team fight.
Immobile: Darius has no dashes or blinks, making him susceptible to ganks and kiting.
Reliance on Stacks: His damage output is heavily reliant on his passive, and he can be easily shut down if he is unable to apply his stacks.
Vulnerable to Crowd Control: Darius is vulnerable to crowd control, which can prevent him from applying his stacks and dealing damage.
Use your wave priority to exert pressure onto the enemy jungler.
Invade: When you crash a big wave, run straight at the enemy jungle camps (Grump/Blue). By attacking the jungler while your lane opponent is stuck farming under the tower, you can start the fight as a 1v1 before the top laner can arrive, making 1v2 situations favorable.
Time Wasting: Even if you can't get a kill, wasting the enemy jungler's time is a 'small win' that allows your team to get other objectives (like Dragon). Be mindful of enemy midlane strength when invading.
Bush Control: On Red side, sit in the third lane bush to get behind the opponent. On Blue side, take the tribush.
XP Zoning: Wait until the minion wave settles before moving to challenge the opponent. By trading aggressively early, you force them to choose between fighting or missing crucial XP/CS. This XP lead is paramount.
Range Matchups: Against range, utilize Q to trim the wave while hitting the opponent for healing and priority. Use bush control heavily to deny free auto attacks.
Vayne, Quinn, Kennen, Heimerdinger. Focus on farming, use bushes, conserve HP, and punish them only if they misposition their disengage (like hooking Kennen mid-
E). In these lanes, you must be willing to scale and absorb pressure without dying.
Jax, Riven, Fiora. Win by forcing early all-ins before they can chip you down. Master the ability to cancel dashes with E or buffer W through CC (like Jax E).
Malphite, Ornn, Illaoi, Maokai. Bounce the wave and look for pre-six run-downs. Consider taking Demolish in these matchups.
Avoid continually pushing the wave under the enemy tower, as Darius is poor at diving and poking under structure.
Hard Push: Crash a large wave under the enemy tower early.
Reset: Allow the wave to bounce back towards your tower.
All-in: Once the wave is frozen or slow pushing near your tower, the lane is long enough to fully utilize Ghost and run the opponent down for an extended all-in.
Darius's mid-game strategy revolves around drawing pressure and creating numerical advantages for his team, especially since he doesn't take Teleport (TP).
Break your top Tier 1 tower quickly.
Base immediately after breaking the tower to maintain tempo over your lane opponent.
Run to the lane opposite the next major objective (
E.g., bot lane if Baron/Herald is up). Keep your lane opponent 'pinned' under their Tier 2/Tier 3 tower.
Once the opponent is pinned, move aggressively ('fog') between the lanes/jungle to draw the enemy jungler or mid laner to you. This means your team gains a 5v4 advantage at the objective.
Use this pressure to secure major objectives like Herald or Baron.
Darius is one of the best champions for front-to-back team fighting.
Hit the closest enemy target. This target is usually a tank or engage support who dives your backline (like a Nautilus or Leona).
Darius’s win condition is getting the first five stacks or the first ultimate reset off the frontline. Once you have your passive and a reset, you can activate Ghost/Flash and dominate the rest of the fight, easily one-shotting remaining targets.
Do not try to dive the backline unless it is a guaranteed play or you are flanking an already exposed team. Flashing past the frontline often gives your opponent a free kill and allows Darius to be instantly focused, making you 'useless' if you fail to get the reset.
Auto-W
WAn auto-attack reset that allows Darius to quickly apply two stacks of his passive.
E-Q
E
QA combo that allows Darius to pull an enemy in and guarantee that he hits them with the outer ring of his Q.
E-Auto-W-Q
E
W
QA full combo that allows Darius to quickly apply five stacks of his passive.
Backline Execution

W
RUsed in late-game team fights to kill a priority target after stacking passive on the front line. The ult damage will follow the target even if they flash away.
QMax this ability first. Use Q-Flash by flashing at the absolute last tick of the windup to ensure the opponent cannot react or dodge.
Start an all-in by using Q and Ghost simultaneously to close the gap and land the outer ring.
WThis is an Auto Attack reset. It applies a powerful 90% slow.
You can buffer W through incoming crowd control (stuns, knockups) to still land the damage and slow.
EMax this ability second. It can be used to cancel enemy dashes (Jax Q, Riven Q/
E).
E's armor penetration effect works on towers.
RThis spell acts as a mini gap closer when chasing.
Sometimes it is strategically better to use your ultimate when the opponent has four stacks to instantly proc your passive, granting the AD steroid for subsequent Auto/
W damage, rather than holding for the execute.
PTo counter Bone Plating, hit the opponent just before Bone Plating comes up. The passive bleed will pop the shield immediately, enabling a much easier all-in.
