General Strategy
3Q>E Max Free farm matchup Go Doran’s shield for a bit of sustain against his q’s. You can go a more greedy rune setup with conditioning or sorcery. Sorcery is recommended if you are confident. Early cull purchase first back is also recommended. Do not stand near walls unless you are baiting him to e into you. Avoid getting hit by his w or w auto. His brittle procs are his only damage. If you struggle in the matchup take fleet.
Trading Patterns
Ornn’s damage is centered around his w and his brittle procs. However it’s short range means he lacks any reliable way to land it without his ultimate or pillar. Thus, its essential to dodge his q and stand away from the resultant pillar in order to remove the possibility of him using his e to knock you up and land his w. If you are in high elo, respect his triple brittle combo and use your ult on it.
Wave Management
Wave position does not matter too much. Be aware of his jungler, since Ornn has very good gank setup with his ultimate. Try not to push the wave when you are farming or poking with q.
Their Win Condition
Without his pillar ornn lacks any good engage tools on you if you are not standing near a wall. Thus, Ornn wants to q we or q e w auto in order to proc his brittle. If Ornn can reliability land these, he can start zoning you from the wave. Moreover, Ornn wants to trade ultimates at six since his has a much lower cooldown than yours in the early game. Ornn also wants to play to get his item spikes in lane and then take fights around it. However, Ornn can also bait you into stopping it by forging and then looking to engage onto you when you try to stop it.
