General Strategy
3Q>E Max Dorans Shield and Dorans Blade are both viable. Never get into melee range with Olaf. Do not get baited into going for the kill, Olaf’s lifesteal and shield on his w makes him very tanky when low. Focus on dodging Axes Olaf has no engage without them Ghost is very viable to match Olaf’s ghost. Swiftness boots are also viable. Play to survive and scale.
Trading Patterns
Never trade with Olaf pre six. You do not do enough damage at this point to ever pressure him. Post six you can auto him for free but remember he can cleanse your q slow at anytime and start running at you. Trades are good as long as you do enough damage to start pressuring him with your e damage. If he has ravenous hydra, trades are almost never good since he will always outheal your damage unless you are all-ining him.
Wave Management
You want the wave near your turret always in this matchup so he cannot run you down with his axes. Try not to push the wave when you are farming with q.
Their Win Condition
Olaf wants to hard trade and shred you by throwing his q and running you down. If he lands an axe on you, he can 100-0 you and perma slow you with axes constantly. Olaf is very happy with trading ults with you since he has kill pressure on you regardless.
