Survive poke until 6. Do not interact with him on the sidelane.
General Strategy
3Q>E Max Take Doran’s Shield and second wind in this matchup for the sustain against his arcane comet and scorch. Try not to trade against him and just reach your spikes and teamfight. Do not go the ad build against Malphite unless you are 5 ap. Respect his item spikes hard. Preferably get your mid to match him in a sidelane in the midgame.
Trading Patterns
Trades against Malphite are almost never positive against him. Try to avoid fighting him. His attack speed slow means you are going to do zero damage against him despite the fact you do ap damage into his armor. You can only really do decent damage against him at level 16 and at that point you are already teamfighting.
Wave Management
You want the wave near your turret always in this matchup so he cannot q spam you or ult onto you. Try not to push the wave when you are farming or poking with q.
Their Win Condition
Malphite pre six wants to throw his q onto you whenever his manaflow band is up. With items, Malphite wants to throw his q and run you down with the iceborn gauntlet slow
