Fiora Win Condition

Your primary win condition revolves around establishing an early and insurmountable gold lead and maximizing the power spike of your first completed mythic item. First off, Divine Sunderer is your go-to item here, and obtaining it essentially means you win the lane, even if the lane was previously even. This is where your ability to sustain trades and apply sheer damage becomes overwhelming. The single biggest factor, however, is simply getting a small initial lead.

If you manage to sneak in a kill or secure First Blood, the game is literally over for Garen in the top lane, and he should struggle significantly to ever play the game normally again without extensive team support. You win by maintaining constant pressure and kiting. Since Garen heals 2% of his max HP every five seconds if he hasn't been damaged, you win by making it impossible for him to stand behind his minions without being threatened, denying him that crucial health regeneration. Ultimately, you aim to be so far ahead that you can solo dive him, or conversely, use your split-push power to take towers rapidly, which he struggles to match.

Garen Win Condition

Garen's win condition relies heavily on maximizing the uptime of his core abilities and preventing you from establishing a sustainable trade pattern. 1. Successful Garen QQ Combo: If Garen manages to hit you with his Q silence and then immediately follow up with hisGaren EE (Judgment), he can deal tremendous damage, especially since the E shreds armor. This is why successful Parry usage is critical. 2. Phase Rush/Haste: Garen needs Phase Rush to deal with your innate mobility.

The haste bonus scales with the game. If he successfully procs Phase Rush, particularly when combined with items like Stridebreaker, he can use that burst of speed to chase you down or, more commonly, escape after a trade. This helps mitigate your vital movement speed advantage. 3. Passive Regeneration: Garen wins the war of attrition if you let him.

If he can safely stand behind his minions without being poked, his passive health regeneration (2% max HP every 5 seconds) will quickly negate any minor advantages you gained in earlier trades. 4. Jungle Intervention: Garen heavily relies on his jungler to assist him in overcoming your early lead. If you get that early kill, Garen is counting on multiple ganks to swing the tempo back in his favor. If he can get assistance and catch you when you are low on mana, or when you don't have Flash or Teleport, he might be able to find a way back into the game.

General Strategy

The core strategy is simple: maximize damage output while making it physically impossible for Garen to retaliate. Since he is entirely melee, if you keep your distance, he can't do anything. 1. Distance Control: Always utilize max range Qs. This allows you to apply damage and keep separation. 2. Kiting with Vitals: After hitting a vital, use the temporary burst of movement speed to kite away from Garen. The goal is to hit a vital and run away while he chases you, preventing him from catching up or trading back.

You should constantly be running in circles around him. 3. Parry Prioritization: Your Riposte is primarily reserved for Parrying Garen'sGaren QQ (Decisive Strike). If you successfully Parry it, he loses his main gap closer and damage source, giving you a huge window. You can even look to Parry his ultimate, as it has a noticeably slow animation. 4. Avoiding the Spin: You absolutely must avoid taking damage from hisGaren EE (Judgment). The spin does massive damage and shreds your armor, making subsequent trades much scarier.

5. Ultimate Utility: Don't just save your ultimate for a guaranteed kill. It's an amazing tool for lane presence and pressure. You can use it to force a trade, heal yourself back up while standing at the edge of the circle, and force him to recall, making him lose entire waves of XP and gold. Crucially, if you are being ganked, you can use yourFiora RR on the quickest enemy champion (like a jungler) to gain the 30% movement speed boost and run safely back to the tower. 6. Mid-Game Split Push: Once you have a lead, you have significantly more value in the side lane than Garen does. Keep splitting and using your Teleport advantage to impact the map, knowing that Garen often lacks Teleport and cannot follow your rotation.

Trading Patterns

Trading against Garen is primarily about exploiting his ability cooldowns, especially early on when hisGaren QQ is key. Early Level Trades (1-5): When he runs at you to Fiora QQ, you are looking to Parry his Q, immediately Auto, use Q, hit a vital, and then get out. If you are fast, you might sneak in one more auto. Use the movement speed boost from the vital proc to distance yourself from his inevitable Fiora EE spin.

Exploiting Cooldowns: HisGaren QQ has a very long cooldown early—about eight seconds. Since yourFiora QQ comes up every four seconds, once he uses his Q, you have a massive advantage and can weave in damage much more frequently than he can retaliate. If Garen activates Q and just chases you without hitting anything, the ability will run out and go back on cooldown, so kiting him is crucial. All-in Timing: Look for opportunities to go for an all-in trade, particularly at Level 1, where you can stack your Conqueror before he has the tools to proc Phase Rush and escape effectively.

Late Game Caution: If Garen stacks speed items (like Stridebreaker) alongside Phase Rush, he becomes incredibly fast. If he hits you with Fiora QQ and then uses Fiora EE and dashes away with Stridebreaker/Phase Rush haste, it is rarely worth chasing him. Focus on hitting more vitals and keeping your HP high instead.

Wave Management

Wave control is your tool to guarantee safety, deny Garen resources, and set up your roams. In the very early levels (1-3), you want to gain the level advantage. You should look to stack the wave and push it hard. This pressure can set up a crucial early dive opportunity.

Once you have a lead and item advantage (like after your first back), you can start controlling the wave more strategically. A slow push is highly effective against Garen. If you build up a large wave, he struggles significantly to clear it because he has to physically run into the wave and use hisGaren EE, leaving him exposed to a trade. This guarantees you a free play—either damage him further, or use the time for a roam into the enemy jungle for vision or setting up Rift Herald.

If you need to bounce the wave back to you (to set up another freeze or slow push), pull the minion aggro off to the side so that your minions focus fire the first enemy minion they encounter. This will reset the wave to push back toward your tower. If there is an objective up, like Dragon, and you have Teleport available, it is generally beneficial to leave your stacked wave and rotate. Even if Garen takes a tower plate or even the tower, as long as you return with a significant gold lead, you are fine, and you have helped spread your advantage across the map.
