Akali Win Condition

Akali must prioritize survival through the irritating poke-heavy phase (Levels 1-5). Winning the matchup depends on successfully dodging or baiting Xerath'sXerath EE (Stun). Once Xerath is in range and his defensive spell is down, Akali should execute a quick all-in burst kill.

Xerath Win Condition

Xerath relies on consistently poking Akali with long-range abilities (Xerath QQ, Xerath WW). He must use hisXerath EE (Stun) to either prevent Akali from engaging or to guarantee his full damage combo/ultimate. Xerath attempts to reduce Akali's HP to 30-40% before attempting a killing blow with hisXerath RR.

General Strategy

The early game is highly irritating due to the range disadvantage. Akali should run Electrocute and Ignite to maximize burst damage in short engagement windows. Doran's Shield combined with Second Wind is essential for sustaining the poke. The only reliable early engagement tool is using Akali EE Backflip in conjunction with Shroud movement speed to dodge Xerath'sXerath EE (Stun).

Xerath is extremely vulnerable once his stun is on cooldown. Purchasing T1 Boots early is recommended to help Akali close the gap and dodge skills. Storm Search is the first item priority.

Trading Patterns

Akali should engage when Xerath wastes abilities (especially Akali QQ) on the minion wave rather than on Akali. If the Akali EE (Stun) is dodged, Akali has a clear window for a Q Passive Auto trade. Post-Level 6, Akali's full mobility (Akali RR, E, Shroud) ensures a kill if she gets onto Xerath. Akali must retreat immediately after bursting Xerath to avoid follow-up damage.

Wave Management

Akali should hold the wave slightly back (near her side) to force Xerath to step forward and prevent him from spamming safely under his own tower. Xerath often spends valuable mana and cooldowns clearing the wave, which is advantageous for Akali. Pushing cannon waves allows Akali to force a longer reset time for Xerath or facilitate rotations to map objectives.
