Akali Win Condition

The key to winning against Gangplank (GP) is delaying his potent scaling by dominating the early game and securing kills. Akali must efficiently sustain his early Akali QQ poke using Doran's Shield and Second Wind. Winning short burst trades with Electrocute is crucial because GP tends to win longer skirmishes. Maintaining a level advantage is highly important, as a single level is equivalent to approximately 600 gold in stats.

Gangplank Win Condition

GP's win condition relies heavily on safely scaling into the late game, where he becomes a significant threat and generally out-scales Akali once he achieves four or five items. He must manage his mana for Gangplank QQ poke, utilize hisGangplank WW (Citrus) for sustain/CC removal, and place hisGangplank EE (Barrels) effectively to zone Akali and deal heavy AoE damage.

General Strategy

Akali should utilize the Electrocute page to maximize burst in short trading windows. Dodging GP's Barrels (E) is paramount, as they deal high damage and slow. Akali should engage with herGangplank QQ passive combo when GP has used a Barrel or if she successfully dodges one.

Storm Search is recommended as the first item to provide the necessary burst. When Akali gets ahead, maintaining the lead by avoiding unnecessary risks, such as greedy tower dives, is vital to prevent GP from catching up in scaling.

Trading Patterns

Akali should aim for trades when GP is low on mana or has used his key abilities. The moment GP steps forward to last hit a minion with low HP is an excellent time to engage. If Akali lands herGangplank EE, she gains a prolonged period to chase GP down the lane. Full all-ins should be saved for when Akali RR is available, allowing Akali to guarantee the kill when GP is within range.

Wave Management

The ideal lane state is keeping the wave on Akali's side of the map. This forces GP to commit further forward for CS, making him vulnerable to Akali's engages and ganks. By holding the wave, Akali forces GP to use hisGangplank QQ or Akali EE on the minion wave, thereby limiting his ability to poke Akali. While freezing becomes harder later due to GP's increased AoE clear, maintaining wave control when ahead starves him of resources and prevents him from rotating freely to objectives.
