Akali Win Condition
Akali's success hinges on baiting and punishing Cassiopeia's powerful zoning tools, especially her
W (Miasma). Since Cassiopeia's W effectively shuts down Akali's core mobility (
E and
R), winning requires fighting outside of its area or when it is on cooldown. Running Conqueror and building items like Liandry's Torment can be part of a bruiser strategy designed to handle the enemy team's potentially tanky champions later in the game.
Cassiopeia Win Condition
Cassiopeia's primary objective is to zone Akali out of lane using her
W (Miasma) to prevent Akali from using her dashes (
E and
R). She also relies on winning extended trades using Conqueror (if she runs it) and continuous damage from her
Q and E. Landing her R (Stone Gaze) when Akali is facing her during an engage guarantees a crucial stun.
General Strategy
This is designated as a hard matchup due to the potency of Cassiopeia's
W against Akali. Akali can choose between Electrocute for short, aggressive early burst trades or Conqueror for better scaling and performance against HP-heavy opponents (which is often chosen if the enemy team composition demands it). Akali must always be ready to punish Cassiopeia if she misuses her W for creep waves.
When Cassiopeia casts her
R, Akali should immediately look away to avoid the stun. Liandry's Torment is a potential first item when running a bruiser-focused build.
Trading Patterns
If running Electrocute, aim for quick, short burst trades. If running Conqueror, Akali needs to weave in auto-attacks to maximize damage and stacking. The perfect window for an all-in is when Cassiopeia has wasted her
W.
If Cassiopeia engages with her ultimate, Akali should attempt to instantly look in the opposite direction to avoid being stunned. Use Flash and Ignite aggressively when
W is on cooldown to guarantee the kill.
Wave Management
Akali should attempt to hold the wave close to her tower to ensure a sufficiently long chase path if Cassiopeia is exposed. Keeping the lane back also minimizes Akali's vulnerability to Cassiopeia's extended damage range. Akali may need to push the wave temporarily to initiate a rebound back towards her side. Later, prioritizing pushing the wave ("for tempo") to gain map presence for objectives is preferred over freezing, especially since games in lower elo often drag out.
